"A man can't be too careful in his choice of enemies"
--Oscar Wilde
Well, exams are over! For now.. Actually they've been over since 7th Dec, but for those who know me well enough, you'd know that I procrastinated to update my blog.. hehe..
Despite the holidays, I still forced myself to finish off a MEGA summary of renal physiology. Think of a paper 1.5 times a normal drawing block. Then imagine a giant nephron drawn onto it. Now imagine this nephron covered in tiny little words describing the absorptive capabilities of each segment of the nephron on the relevant regions, the concentrations of filtered substances in each segment, which hormones act on which segments, what said hormones do, cell tyoes in the various regions... Yep, I am mighty proud of myself right now =D
Still, I'm no expert =.= I'm starting to think there's no end to what you need to know about the human body. It's ENDLESS!! I mean, I dont think I really can rmb all the stuff I learnt in the first few weeks of Med school anymore!! Really pei fu those ancient doctors who seemed to be well-versed in all things medical O_o
Well, then again:
1) I'm only in Year 1, and I only finished 4 months of Med School.
2) Those were just stories of those imba medical dudes. Who knows? Mb it's just glorification..
3) Maybe they knew so little back then that it was easy to get everything in their heads..
Ah well... Maybe I should spend some time revisiting the stuff we went thru in the 1st Semester..
Acty, it's pretty hard to believe that one sem has just flown by.. I've poked through ex-men (and women) to look at how their muscles and tendons attached to the corresponding bones. I've seen someone with scleral jaundice. I've stuck ECG leads on my classmate (I arrowed him to be the subject, so there'd be no chance I'd kena! Hehe..). I've seen a heart that's 2.5 times the size of a fist! (normal hearts are only slightly larger than a fist)
Fun fun... haha..
Anyway, it's the holidays, so I decided to kick back a little while, and try to finish off the Wii game that I gave up on months ago: "The Prince of Persia: Rival Swords". I did AMAZINGLY better than I did previously! Taking control of the Prince (and his evil counterpart, the Dark Prince), I soared across the walls of the Persian city, eliminated sand-demons that would've made a grown man cry (if they were real), and escaped razor lined dungeons... All in pursuit of the evil Vizier who destroyed the Prince's homeland.
At last, I reached the final stages of the game, after spending hours beating the various bosses and the many traps that stood in my way.. NOTHING would stand in my way of beating the game and watching that final, satisfying cinematic.
Nothing, except for screwed motion detection on my Wii remote!!! Grrr.... You see, to kill the final boss, I had to initiate a Speed Kill. But this involves swinging the Wii remote at a very spcific timing. And try as I might, the DAMNED Wii remote REFUSED to register my swing at the appropriate time!!! Thus, my endeavour to defeat one of the easiest boss fights I have ever seen had degenerated into the most IMPOSSIBLE (and I mean physically imposssible) boss fights ever!
Do you know how freaking *GAH* it is to be stuck at the final boss not because you dont know how to beat him, or even that you skills suck, but simply because the controller refuses to function properly?!?!?!?! CURSE YOU, NINTENDO WII!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm like 5 properly timed-swings from the ending, and now I stand here, beaten, and denied.. By what? my remote controller =/ it's that distinct sense of betrayal reserved for when your very own tools, those meant to be on your side simply refuse to work with you, such that you're foiled in your greatest hour =(
I mean, really, what kind of Wii remote stops functioning properly when you're just 5 swings from beating the Vizier.
May the pain of a thousand screams befall you, stupid Wii remote.
Bah.
You see that quote at the top, Wii remote? well that's for you. And you have made an injudicious choice of enemy in choosing to deny me.
Anw, in other news, chu's coming back real soon! So from then on, I guess I'm pretty much off-limits to everyone else. Not that anyone was realy asking me out.. haha -.-
ok, I'm off!
